A reflection of the past season…
Well, the season has basically come to an end. As anyone who has been reading this blog know, I missed the majority of the season with a seperated shoulder and that prevented me from doing any legit filming. A couple of pictures for those who view this blog from my recent trip to Fernie…
This pretty much sums up the trip. I did a lot of backcountry hiking, unfortunately no great pictures from that. It was really fun overall. Receiving 21cms of fresh pow in late March is definitely a blessing considering I missed out on the rest of the season from January on. Also missed out most of December due to finals.
Regardless, it was a learning season, (learning how to play Halo with an arm in a sling is pretty tough, Guitar Hero is even harder) but I am hoping to see a lot more action next year, maybe enter a few local competitions. We’ll see how things turn out.
1 commentI’m back!
So the arm has healed up quite nicely and physio is going along well. Still not at 100 percent though and have not been on a board for about a month and a half. This weekend will be the first time in a while. As long as that goes well, filming should be underway soon. It’s been a while since I’ve done any of that so I’m looking forward to it. I will be heading to Calgary over Easter Break to do some shredding, possibly heading to Fernie during that time as well for some backcountry riding… maybe some filming as well. That’s all the news I have for now, hopefully only positive things for the rest of the season…
No commentsInjured…
Well, it had to happen eventually I guess. About 3 weeks ago I fell on my shoulder wrong while snowboarding and dislocated my collar bone so I will be out until close to the end of February it seems. The season started out great, had a few fun sessions, but as filming was about to get underway this had to happen. Oh well, what can you do I guess. The good news is, I’ll still have a solid month of snowboarding when this whole ordeal is over with. Sorry about the lack of updates lately. The fact that my right arm is useless has made it tough to type. Until next time… keep fit, and have fun…
No commentsFinally, some riding time!!
Alright, finals are over… finally! And snowboarding has now become top priority for me. I am heading up to Big White and the Kelowna area on Christmas Day at about 6 in the morning, arrive at 7 30 in the morning and should be on the hill by 10. I will be spending just under a week there, and then after New Year’s I will be shredding the local hill here. My first day to an actual hill was yesterday. The park was not completely set up yet but a few boxes were installed and we found a makeshift step-up. Overall it was a pretty rad time. Today I am taking a day off to do some Christmas shopping and tomorrow I will be back on the hill hopefully with a camera this time. Well, that’s all the news I have for now. Until next time…
No commentsFirst Snowfall!!
Alright so it wasn’t all I was hoping for but it’s a start. There was snow on the ground for about four or five hours. Now we just need it to stay. Weather is now perfect for hockey rink snow sessions and since it is a long weekend there is plenty of time to ride. Other than that, nothing new really. Looking forward to rock the new Liquid gear this winter. It is looking pretty wicked….
No commentsThe countdown begins
Well it is now October and winter is getting closer and closer. The weather is finally starting to cool down a bit which is nice. I don’t know how much longer I can wait for the snow. In a way I am hoping it doesn’t snow until December 18th as I have finals in university until the 17th and a distraction would bring my marks down substantially. On the other hand, it has been so long since I have been snowboarding that I am almost going insane.
Nothing else is really happening out here right now. I spend all of my time studying and/or playing SKATE on the Xbox 360, and a little bit of Guitar Hero here and there. Life is good. What can I say. Oh and it is official, I will be staying put for the season. I got an excellent job offer for this upcoming January where I am. It sounds as if it will work out well for snowboarding as well, a little bit of shift work and 12 hour shifts meaning more days off in a week meaning more snowboarding meaning more progression. So as of December 18th, I will be getting my shred on full time.
No commentsWinter Is Approaching
Alright, so as winter approaches, I am still trying to find out where I am going to be and what I am going to be doing. I might end up in Ottawa for the winter which would be interesting. I have an interview for a job their on tuesday. I may also end up staying put where I am for the winter. It is still up in the air. So if anyone is in the Ottawa area and is looking for someone to ride with I would definitely be interested if I end up there this winter. Anyway, that is all that is new with me. School has taken over my life and as midterms approach, things are getting even more intense. December 17th, however, my snowboard season will officially start. I will be riding before that but not nearly enough. After that, no more school until May.
No commentsA Little Update
Well, it has been a little while since the last post so I guess I should update on my summer a little bit. Just got back from BC. I was in Fernie, then Kelowna, then Edmonton and am now back home. Got to see a lot of friends I had not seen in a while and visit some family. Also got some school shopping done at the West Edmonton Mall. That place is unreal.
School has just started here for me. Second year engineering. I only have four classes this summer as I took a summer class, so this should allow for me to be able to snowboard a lot more this winter. I have a work term in the winter semester which will be fairly flexible for me, allowing for a good amount of riding. Should be a good season. Two trips planned so far. Big White around Chirstmas and Fernie in February. Hopefully a couple of trips to maybe Calgary, Winnipeg, or some other cities like that for some rail sessions. I’d also like to get to Whistler late season this year as well. That would be nice but that will be dependent on a few different things going on. Anyways, that is all for now. The season is approaching and as it comes closer, more posts will be put up.
No commentsHmm what a nice summer
Well I finally learned how to login to this blog thing. Complicated yet not. Summer has been long and hot and is not even close to over yet. However I have found ways to occupy my time. Taking a night class for example so that I am doing less in the winter so I can ride more. What a great IDEA! Also, hunting gophers is a fun past time. I have only done this once this summer. IN FACT, once ever. It was amazing. I shot several gophers with a gun. I will post a picture so that everyone can see how awesome it is. I felt like a part of the Taliban, travelling around in the back of a truck with a gun in my hand. Try it sometime. On top of this I have found time to skateboard, hang out with my girlfriend, go to church, play a lot of pool, be a best man at my friend Dallas’ wedding and go to BC later this summer. Wicked.
